When was UPSC established?

The Union Civil Service was established on 1 October 1926, its headquarters is located at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi.

History of Union Public Service Commission:

In fact, the first Civil Services Examination was started in 1854 by the British East India Company. Initially, this exam was conducted in London, and mostly only British candidates appeared in it, its syllabus was such that no Indian was able to crack this exam easily. Later, after the First World War and many changes made by Montague Chelmsford, the Civil Services Examination started being conducted in India itself. After independence in India, when the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, its companion Federal Public Service Commission was established as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
