These will break the heart of your traveler. Octopath Traveler is well-known for its beautiful art direction, great music, and fun combat. But for die-hard fans who want to do everything in the game, it will be best known for the secret bosses that can be found anywhere, from treasure chests that look harmless to a hole in the ground. All you have to do is be careful and thorough when you travel.
Table of Contents
ToggleNot every boss is the same, though. Some of them are just there to stop you from getting where you want to go. Who are they? They are strength tests that will put your knowledge of how the Octopath Traveler 2 game works to the test. The main course of each of the entries is pain.
Shadowy Boy
Octopath Traveler 2 has a lot of optional minibosses, and the Shadowy Boy is one of them. Well, “miniboss” might be a bit of a misnomer since you can’t fight him in the main story or in a side quest. Instead, he has a strange way of getting to you so you can fight him.
The NPC you’re looking for looks like a child, and among his things is a bear that you can’t steal. In a creepy way, the description says, “Come play with me,” written in all capital letters. This tells you that there’s more to the boy than meets the eye. You wait on the edge of a cliff until dawn, when a boy with a smile on his face and ready to play comes to meet you.
Bandelem
If the only thing you care about is the thrill of battle, is it really so bad to give up your freedom? Gladiator Bandelem says that this is the only way he wants to live. Borneau, the master for whom he fights, told him that as long as he stands in his arena, he will always be fighting. This is important to Bandelem.
Bandelem hits hard early in Octopath Traveler 2 game and has a lot of shields, so you have to work twice as hard to get through them. But that’s not the best part, oh no. Even though he has weaknesses like the other bosses in the game, he also has a special ability that lets him hide some of them for a few turns. This means you’ll have to guess which ones they are.
Glacis
Glacis‘s anger at the area isn’t without reason. She has been sad for a long time because hunters broke her precious egg because they felt bad about not being able to beat Glacis. So, she put the cold tundra of her sadness on top of the mountain.
This cold creature has a big shield with seven points, so it will take time and planning to kill it as quickly as possible. Just make sure to try to stay warm at the top of the mountain.
Devourer Of Dreams
Even though he’s not the only boss from the first Happy Wheels game to come back in the second, he’s a scary one to face. His big trick makes it hard for the party to see who should go next. It doesn’t sound like much, but if you walk into this fight unprepared (it has a danger level of 40, by the way), you’re in for a rude and confusing awakening.
The good thing about this fight is that it is no longer a chance encounter with a 3% chance of happening. Instead, you’ll find it in the Forsaken Graveyard, which is a good name for it, sitting on top of a hill like a simple treasure chest. As you get closer, you’ll get a message that sounds scary: “The sense of danger is overwhelming.”
Dreadwolf
At least the other things on the list were placed in places that made sense, like on top of a mountain or at the edge of a cliff. Dangerous sure, but it makes sense. So what about the Dreadwolf? No, he decides to hang out in an underground prison. Worse yet, you can only get to that dungeon by breaking the bridge you are standing on.
Aside from this risky trip, Dreadwolf hits hard and calls its two younger brothers to help deal damage in Octopath Traveler 2. It can also raise its shield to 11. However, if you know how to exploit both its blocked and unblocked weaknesses, you can easily break the shield. If the bite doesn’t kill you.
The Man In The Mist/Thurston
All of your problems with Thurston are because of that damn fog machine. Thurston is an angry former worker who lost their job and is taking out all of their hilariously misplaced anger on you and your party. Even though that might be more about him than anything you’ve done, it’s not the point.
Thurston’s shield makes him look like a pushover because it isn’t very strong. But first, you’ll have to deal with that big machine he has that makes fog. There’s your problem. You’ll have to hit it hard with swords, axes, bows, and ice and wind magic before you can break it. Be careful, because you only have so many moves before he calls up a stronger one.
Karma The Sword Hunter
Karma is a sword collector who only wants the best blades he can find, even if they are in a dangerous place. To go after him and fight the famous swordsmen, you’ll have to go through the dungeon by yourself, giving up any advantage you might have had with a group. But that’s not all.
Aside from the quick and powerful attacks of Unsheathing Stance and the way Tiger and Wolf can change the order of his weaknesses, he has a more sneaky mechanic that is hidden from the player: a rage meter. You have a certain number of moves left before he uses his move that kills in one hit and does 9,999 damage. This move makes sure that no one is left alive.
Somehow, Galdera Returned
Galdera The Fallen is a name that makes you feel both excited and afraid. He was a favorite part of the first Octopath as the “final” boss, and he’s back as a hidden optional boss this time. Getting to him takes a lot of time and is a real battle of strength and wear.
The battle can last for more than an hour and is split between the Omniscient Eye and the Happy Wheels, which has some nasty surprises up its sleeve. Galera will not only go for the hard-hitting HP attacks, but it will also go for your BP. This makes it hard to manage and keep everyone healthy and buffed.
